The Road to Skye

The third day we took the road from Inverness to Kyle of Lochlash and then we arrived to Skye. We planned to stay three nights there, which means more than two days to explore as many places as possible of this breathtaking island.
I was dreaming of visiting the Isle of Skye since the first time I saw Stardust movie in 2007 and suddenly I fell in love with The Old Man of Storr and other Skye’s landscapes. The simply fact that one of the most favorite distilleries of my husband Luca – the worldwide famous Talisker – is located exactly in Skye has been more than a pleasant coincidence!
The travel from Inverness to Skye is about 3 hour drive by car along a panoramic road, and you have the chance to visit the very famous Loch Ness and the Eilean Donan Castle at Kyle of Lochlash.
You cannot imagine how many times I desired to stop the car and take pictures. Thousand times! Fortunately for me Luca was so kind and patient to do it as many times as possible. In other cases I took pictures while our car was running XD
One of my favourite stops had been at Loch Cluanie, that’s basically in the wonderful middle of nowhere between mountains, glens and lakes before arriving to Eilean Donan. We also saw a F-18 fighter flying through the valley at some point: simply stunning!
The moorland, the hills and valleys covered by heather and moss, were absolutely the perfect, Scottish, landscape that I have ever dreamt to see. And finally I did!
